The Weaving Hex.-  is the final design proposal which consolidates the exploration and design from all 5 previous phases into one system and design.  This proposal is mainly an extract of the sunshade netting and glasshouse sky garden.

YEAR THREE STUDIO PROJECT

Date: January - May 2015

 - FINAL PHASE -

Proposed scenarios for the function of this extension:

  1. The extension can first be served as a cloth drying area when the system is closed as the glass house accelerates the heat gain into the structure.

  2. It can become a communal space for the residents when the system is opened or semi-opened depending on the level of netting closure.

 - ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES -

Section of the Glasshouse Area with the technical drawings of the pivoted screen components

Shading factor at different floors and orientation of the residential units would be varied because of the height level and the surrounding landscape, division of the building into four shading regions and development of respective weaving pattern to handle such variation are done.

The lower the level and the farthest away from the west orientation, the least amount of direct sunlight can be passing through. Hence, the least density pattern would be adopted.
